1. උඩරට රාජ්ය සමය
Asked in 13 of 13 sittings, 25 questions. It is in every sitting we hold. The question names a king or a British envoy and asks which event belongs to them. The start of the independent kingdom comes back, and so does the succession the Nayakkar rulers followed. So do the fall in 1815 and the convention that handed the kingdom over. Column-matching puts the name a prince used before the reign beside the regnal name. Land terms such as paraveni, and the badda offices, are asked the same way. The other options are real facts from a neighbouring period.

Asked in 12 of 13 sittings, 42 questions. Not in 2016. Most of these are column-matching or a sequence. A king is paired with a tank, a stupa, or an office, and you pick the row that lines up. The paper also asks who first built a complete capital, and who maintained the village tanks. Keep the king with the work. The other options are real works from another reign.

Asked in 12 of 13 sittings, 32 questions. Not in 2020. Pair the governor with the reform or the revolt. Colebrooke, Torrington and the 1848 taxes, and North come back as names attached to a measure. The paper asks which changes were economic and which were cultural, and it asks for the order of the steps by which British power was established. A true line about the wrong governor loses the question.

Asked in 12 of 13 sittings, 16 questions. Not in 2012. The question names a cave or a site and asks why it matters, or it names the evidence and asks which site it comes from. The caves at Batadombalena, Pahiyangala and Belilena come back, and so does the burial evidence. It also asks what shows the shift from hunting to farming. Keep the source with the fact.

Asked in 11 of 13 sittings, 24 questions. Not in 2024(2025), 2013. These ask which constitution did which thing. The 1972 and 1978 constitutions are set side by side: the republic, the referendum, a fundamental-rights petition, and the name of the legislature. A set of reforms is given and you name the prime minister. Mahaweli, and the parties formed after independence, are asked the same way. Read which statements belong together before you pick.

Asked in 11 of 13 sittings, 23 questions. Not in 2025, 2018. Learn each constitutional reform as its own row: Donoughmore, Soulbury, and the features that belong to each. Universal franchise, executive committees, the prime minister and the senate are the features the paper swaps. The question asks which feature does not belong, or it asks for the order. The early associations are asked by their first president. Do not move a feature from one reform to the next.

Asked in 6 of 13 sittings, 9 questions. Not in 2024(2025), 2023(2024), 2022(2023), 2017, 2015, 2013, 2012. The question gives two events and asks whether the pair belongs to this war. Pearl Harbor, the air raids on Colombo and Trincomalee, and the Marshall Plan after the war are the events it keeps returning to. It also asks which event ended the war. Do not attach an event from the First World War, or from a revolution, to this one.

How to use the notes before the paper
- Revise in period order, oldest era first, and give the rows with the most questions more evenings. Then do the world-history notes above. The 8-week plan spreads the whole paper out to 10 December 2026, not just these 6 eras.
- After each era, do its questions from several sittings in one session. One year on its own is a poor mix. The wording changes from sitting to sitting.
- Keep the questions you missed. That list is a better plan than any ranking, including this one.

The History paper is on Thursday, 10 December 2026. Paper II, 08:30 – 11:40. Paper I (MCQ), 13:00 – 14:00. These notes are for Paper I. Paper II is not included. That date is the Department of Examinations time table, issued on 6 October 2026. The official copy is on doenets.lk.
