A parent has two jobs here, and they are not the same job. One is reading the result. The other, and only if a notice exists, is applying for re-scrutiny. This page says what the Department of Examinations has published on doenets.lk. It does not contain a Grade 5 deadline or a Grade 5 fee. Neither can be written down without a notice.
How to check the result
The Department of Examinations releases the Grade 5 Scholarship result. Read it on the School Exam Results page. Choose Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.
The index number is on the admission card. The Grade 5 field takes 7 characters. A wrong index number does not return a result. The form does not search until the check on the page is completed. The same steps are in the Department’s results service on the services page. That service covers O/L, A/L and the Grade 5 Scholarship exam.
The heading on the page is the name the Department is using that day. When this page was published, the Grade 5 heading was Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, and the year was 2026. That heading does not say after re-scrutiny.
On the same page, the O/L heading does say After Rescrutiny, and so does the A/L heading. Read the heading on the day you look. If the Department changes the name, the page shows the new one.
How to apply for re-scrutiny
There is no Grade 5 re-scrutiny application in the doenets.lk news list. The newest Grade 5 item in that list is the 2026 examination time table. That item is not a call for applications.
The re-scrutiny service on the services page is for G.C.E. O/L and A/L only. It does not mention Grade 5. The document names a fee for O/L and a fee for A/L. Neither fee is a Grade 5 fee. Do not use that form for the Scholarship exam.
The same document says a school candidate’s form is sent through the principal. That instruction is for O/L and A/L. It is not a Grade 5 rule. This page does not say that a Grade 5 application goes through the school.
When a Grade 5 notice is published, it will be on doenets.lk. That notice is what names the deadline, the fee, and who may apply. Until there is a notice, there is no published way to apply.
What to do, in order
- Keep the admission card. The index number is on it.
- Read the result on doenets.lk, and read the heading above it.
- If the mark looks wrong, look on doenets.lk for a Grade 5 re-scrutiny notice.
- If there is no notice, there is no published way to apply. Do not pay an O/L fee or an A/L fee for this exam.
- A school place is a different job. It is covered in Grade 6 school applications.
If your child sits next year
Re-scrutiny is about this year’s result. A child sitting next year needs a short, regular go at real questions. The shape of that year is in the 12-month plan.

One question, for the child who has not sat yet
The result and the re-scrutiny are this year’s work. The question under this heading is for the child whose exam is still ahead.

Common questions
How do I check the Grade 5 Scholarship result?
On doenets.lk, open School Exam Results and choose Grade 5 Scholarship Examination. Enter the index number printed on the admission card. The form asks for 7 characters. A wrong index number does not return a result. The form does not search until the check on the page is completed.
Is the Grade 5 result on the site already re-scrutinised?
Read the label on the page. When this page was published, the Grade 5 label was "Grade 5 Scholarship Examination" for 2026, and it did not say after re-scrutiny. The O/L and A/L labels on the same service did. If the Department changes the Grade 5 label, the page shows the new one.
How do I apply for Grade 5 Scholarship re-scrutiny?
There is no Grade 5 application in the Department’s news list. The standing re-scrutiny service is for G.C.E. O/L and A/L only. Do not use that form for the Scholarship exam. When a Grade 5 notice is published, it will be on doenets.lk, and that notice is the application.
What is the Grade 5 re-scrutiny fee and deadline?
This page does not give either. The Department has not published a fee or a deadline for the Grade 5 Scholarship exam. The O/L and A/L re-scrutiny document names a fee for those two exams. That fee is not a Grade 5 fee. Follow the Grade 5 notice on doenets.lk.
